I've finally worked out how to get past the whole visual quality of artwork problem I was having. I simply have t finger paint the line art in Sketchpad on my iPad. Yep, that's right, all those lines are finger drawn. It's actually harder than it sounds. No wonder finger paintings by professional artists sell for so much! XD
